Mundy Quarries - Broadway, VA and Quicksburg, VA

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is seeking a Quarry Stock Truck Driver for our Mundy Quarries.  Candidate must be able to operate heavy duty off-road earth or rock moving equipment such as, but not limited to, rigid frame or articulated haul units.    May service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment, and will be required to perform other duties relating to quarry production.

Must have at least one (1) year of previous experience with similar or same equipment machinery.  High school diploma or GED required.  Must possess clean driving record.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer in the State of Virginia, is seeking a Quarry Operations Manager for our Mundy Quarries near Harrisonburg Virginia  Headquartered in Roanoke and with seven locations throughout Virginia, Rockydale Quarries Corporation provides a wide variety of aggregates, agricultural products, and bio-mix soils to serve the needs of many industries, including construction, agricultural, and residential. Since 1932, Rockydale Quarries has been serving Virginia and the Carolina’s with quality, excellence, and value.

The Quarry Operations Manager will manage and direct all site operations with a focus on safety, customer service, overall continuous improvement, maintenance, production, quality control, and community relations. This position is responsible for upholding compliance in state and federal regulations. 

Responsibilities:  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Drive a culture of safety, promote a safe work environment, ensuring safety compliance with all local, state, and federal safety & environmental laws.

• Promote a focus on our customers’ needs and anticipate and respond to changes in their demands.

• Develop and manage annual budgets, track and analyze KPI’s, and overall P&L activity.

• Continual evaluation and improvement of operational and cost efficiency with direct production efforts.

• Ability to understand and work with Quality Control to maximize product specifications and minimize waste by ensuring quality control standards are met and company quality programs are followed.

• Troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, & maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

• Ensure company policies and guidelines are followed to ensure compliance with local, state, & federal regulations.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees, and managers.

• Maintain company assets in good operational condition & recommend capital replacement where warranted.

• Drive and instill a culture of continuous improvement.

Background & Experience Requirements: Candidates should have a BS in Mining Engineering or equivalent experience in the mining industry.

• Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience in the mining or related industry required.

Other Requirements:

• A working knowledge of aggregate production and related equipment, as well as an extensive understanding of operations & safety requirements for all applicable machinery and equipment.

• Must be able to analyze options by possessing strong leadership and decision-making skills, thereby making the best decision for the business.

• Knowledge of state & federal employment, safety, and environmental laws required.

• Must possess or be able to obtain Virginia DMME and VDOT certifications.

• Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively and efficiently in oral and written form.

• Be proficient in the use of standard MS office programs. Must have experience in creating and maintaining capital and operating budgets.  Must be willing to relocate to Harrisonburg or within close proximity to quarry.

Roanoke Quarry - Roanoke, VA

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer in the Roanoke Valley and throughout Virginia, is seeking a Maintenance Clerk for their Truck Shop in Roanoke, VA.  This position will be responsible for the processing of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, work order creation and managements, parts ordering, statistics input, and inventory management.

Must be able to understand and maintain vendor relationships, possess excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills, have knowledge of store room and tool room procedures, and be able to maintain good housekeeping in the shops, warehouses, mobile maintenance equipment, and job sites.  Solid computer/software skills required.

Physical requirements include the ability of visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, climbing on equipment, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, working at heights up to 350 feet, repetitive motion, and squatting.  Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required.

Also includes the ability to walk/stand on uneven ground, walkways and catwalks throughout the work day.  Must be able to physically lift up to 75 lb. parts waist high for placing into position.  Ability required to work in tight areas to handle heavy parts.  Must be able to work overtime as dictated by job demands.

At least one year previous experience in purchasing required.  Prior experience in the mining industry a plus.  Must have at least a high school diploma or GED.  Good driving record required.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is seeking a Drill Operator at our Roanoke location.  

Applicant must be able to operate drilling machine to bore holes in various materials according to specifications. Must have knowledge with DTH and top hammer drills. Should exhibit knowledge of design and shot layout. Must have the ability to perform minor maintenance on drilling equipment. Must be able to read forms, signage, and write up basic reports. Must be able to understand and maintain accurate drilling logs. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, assisting with blasting operations, servicing and making normal operating adjustments to equipment, and other related production duties.

Previous experience of at least one (1) year or more of training or experience with similar or same equipment is required.  Must be able to travel to additional quarry sites, with some overnight stays required.  High school diploma or GED required.  Must possess clean driving record. This is a mining environment and requires the ability to work in all types of weather conditions.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is looking for an Electrician at our Roanoke, VA location.  Primary duties include, but are not limited to, installing and repairing wiring and fixtures, control equipment, planning new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, consistent execution of MSHA, DMME, and NEC electrical codes, preparing sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, following blueprints, repairing faulty equipment or systems, and other related duties. 

Classification as a Journeyman Electrician is required, with certification as a Master Electrician and/or prior working knowledge of automation and PLC’s a plus.  Travel and overnight stays may be required.  Previous experience working in a quarry or mine preferred.  Must be able to work overtime as required by job.  
High school diploma or GED, in addition to a clean driving record, is required.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer in Virginia, is seeking a Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic for their Roanoke, Virginia, location.  Must be a self-starter, have extensive knowledge with the ability to run diagnosis tests, be able to troubleshoot, adjust, weld, repair, and maintain diesel and gasoline equipment.   Must possess the skills to repair and maintain both off-road construction and mining-type equipment and over-the-road vehicles, up to and including Class 8 trucks.  Requirements include the ability to maintain protective guards and safety devices on equipment, along with performing preventative maintenance services.

Working knowledge of DOT Motor Carrier Division Safety Rules and Regulations as they pertain to over-the-road-trucks is a plus.  Must be a safe, self-starting individual willing to perform other related duties as required by job. 

Candidate must be able to work outside in field conditions during all seasons.  Travel to other Rockydale locations may be required.  Must be able to work overtime as required by job.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience with similar or same equipment and/or machinery is required.  Minimum of three years of experience may be considered if post-secondary vocational/technical school training in the required field has been completed successfully. High school diploma or GED is required.  Must be able to provide copy of clean driving record.

Staunton Quarry - Staunton, VA

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is seeking a Drill Operator at our Staunton location. 

Applicant must be able to operate drilling machine to bore holes in various materials according to specifications; measure and mark patterns for drilling.  Strong knowledge and experience with regulating speed of drilling machine, flow of water (coolant), and drilling speed required.  Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, assisting with blasting operations, servicing and making normal operating adjustments to equipment, and other related production duties.

Previous experience of at least one (1) year or more of training or experience with similar or same equipment is required.  Must be able to travel to additional quarry sites, with some overnight stays required.  High school diploma or GED required.  Must possess clean driving record. This is a mining environment and requires the ability to work in all types of weather conditions.

Second Shift:  M-TH, 3:00 pm -- 3:00 am

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is looking for a Maintenance Crew Member at our Glade Hill, VA location.  This individual performs any combination of the following duties: completes structures or structural framework; bolts and aligns steel members in position until they can be permanently riveted, bolted, or welded in place; cuts and welds steel members to make alterations using welding equipment; reads and interprets plans; and performs other duties related to process and mobile equipment.  Crane experience a plus.

Must have previous experience of at least one (1) year with similar or same equipment/machinery.  High school diploma or GED required.  Must be able to work overtime as required by job.

Position is in a quarry environment, and applicant must possess the ability to work in all types of weather conditions as all job tasks are performed outside.  Must be able to work overtime as required by job. Hours will be Monday -- Thursday, 3:00 p.m. -- 3:00 a.m.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is seeking Class B CDL Truck Drivers for our Glade Hill location:

Candidate must be able to operate a tandem-rear axle truck that may have auxiliary or pony axle assembly for transporting construction materials.  May service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment, and other related duties including, but not limited to, pre-trips, logs, and operating a stock truck.

Requires a commercial driver’s license with proper endorsement to operate vehicle.  Must have at least a Class B endorsement.

Must have previous experience of at least two years with similar or same equipment machinery required.  High school diploma or GED required.  Must possess and be able to provide copy of clean driving record.  No overnight travel – shifts may run from 6:30 a.m.  until 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., dependent upon projects, season of year, etc.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is looking for a Utility worker for its Glade Hill location. 

Must possess the ability to operate skid loaders and other pieces of heavy equipment; be able to operate cutting torch and welder; and know basic functions of various types of heavy equipment.  Must be able to multi-task and be mechanically inclined.

Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions and in a mining environment.  Overtime may be required based on production needs.

Must have at least one year or more of training or proven experience with similar or same equipment machinery, and have basic knowledge of equipment mechanics. High school diploma or GED required.
